Destination Paso Robles, our stay at the Geneseo Inn at Cass Winery
Towards the end of summer I always am dreaming of a costal trip. All summer long we are on the go and most weekends we are sleeping in the tent backpacking. This year I decided I wanted to close out summer with a trip to Paso Robles and Moro Bay. This is an area we have only spent a short amount of time in but we have heard incredible things about.
I knew we would be taking the van, but I wanted a few nights of luxury and relaxation so I started my search for fun, unique dog friendly lodging in that area. This search led me to The Geneseo Inn in Paso Robles. The Inn is truly something straight out of a dream! This family owned, EXTREMELY dog-friendly, boutique hotel and sustainable winery is halfway between San Fransisco and L.A., in the rolling hills of Paso Robles. It sits right in the middle of the Cass Winery’s 145 acres of vineyard.
When I first pulled up the website, I knew it was a place I wanted to experience. A boutique hotel located in the middle of a sustainable family-owned vineyard with luxury rooms built out of industrial shipping crates where you can truly “breathe in the vineyard views,” from your private outdoor deck, perched above the vines? With an inclusive gourmet, estate breakfast is delivered to your room each morning, and a happy hour each night with complementary wine and charcuterie? SIGN ME UP!
From the moment we pulled through the gate and headed up the dirt road through the vines, I know this would be stay I would never forget. Signs with a 5 mph speed because dust kills the grapes lead us to the office.
Each of the eight rooms at the Geneseo Inn are uniquely themed and we were in the “Changes,” room where we were welcomed to David Bowie “Changes,” playing on the rooms Alexa. Each room is fitted with ultra-modern amenities and appliances, and elevated vineyard view from a private bedroom deck,
You can also take part in farm education program and guest experiences; side-car vineyard tours through Third Wheel Tours, wine seminars, cooking classes, beekeeping, archery, ax throwing and more through Camp Cass. We decided to take a guided sunset tour, a dog-friendly side car vineyard tour and archery class and we had so much fun.
AWe spent out days wandering the beautiful property, playing corn-hole in the common area and walking down to Cass Winery for some lunch and wine tasting. The evenings we spent watching the sun go down on our deck or having a social glass of wine at happy hour around the fire. If you are craving an escape to Central California Wine Country I cannot recommend Geneseo Inn enough – it is the perfect place for dog-friendly laid back luxury and we cannot wait to go back!
