Destination Hope Valley - Our stay at Wylder Hotel Hope Valley
As you all know, we love to travel and one step above that, we love to travel with our dogs. Having the van is great fun for most weekends but we also like to indulge in some dog-friendly accommodations from time to time as well.
Since moving to Reno from Portland, we have been dying to experience some of the dog-friendly lodging options and Wylder Hotel Hope Valley was first on our list.
For starters, Wylder is a perfect year-round destination. Whether you are in the area for winter or summer activities, this place offers something in every season for couples and families alike. Its close proximity to Lake Tahoe and all things Eastern Sierra makes it the ideal location for all your adventures. I should mention that while it is super close to so many things, it is also perfectly off the beaten path.
Wylder has luxury yurts, a redesigned airstream and cabins that are as cute as a button and it truly the ideal place to rest your feet and your paws after you spend a day adventuring in Lake Tahoe, the local hot springs, hiking in the Eastern Sierra or just exploring the 165 acres of property.
After you have had a full day you can relax in the dry sauna, swing on one of the wooden hammocks, spend some time around one of the properties many fire-pits, enjoy a drink at the outdoor bar, listen to some live music or enjoy some INCREDIBLE food (and homemade desserts) at the on site Sorensen’s Cafe!
We spent hours together relaxing in the cabin, sitting out on our deck and walking (sniffing really) the grounds. When it was time for us to go to dinner, the dogs were happily worn out and ready to take a nap.
As the brochure at Wylder says… “LIFE IS BETTER IN THE MOUNTAINS. The sun rises. The sun sets. And a whole lot of stuff happens in-between. Especially here in Hope Valley. Whether you’re hiking the trails in summer, or hitting the slopes in winter, our all-season resort is the perfect setting for memorable adventures to unfold.”
They were correct. It was the perfect setting for memorable adventures to unfold, and I will cherish the time we spent there, especially the time with Finn. Life IS better in the mountains, but it is absolutely better in the mountains when your dogs can join, too.
Of the many people we met at Wylder, one couple was there celebrating their dog Porter’s 10th birthday. The staff made him a bowl of vanilla ice cream topped with treats and he enjoyed it by the fire. Another couple was on a date night away to unwind (it was their 5th time there), their kids at home with a sitter. One couple came in a camper van and stopped for dinner and drinks. They ended up renting a cabin for the night because they fell in love with the property and the people (it’s hard not to).
No matter what the story was, everyone we met was creating different memories and they all were so happy to be there, including us!
Thank you for such a wonderful experience Wylder Hotel Hope Valley - we made a lot of memories and a lot of new friends! We can’t wait to come back!!
