Destination Mount Hood - Our stay at the Mt Hood Tiny House Village
I love staying in tiny houses. There is just something about the simplicity of them that leaves me feeling refreshed and ready to clean out some of the clutter in my life. We recently were welcomed at the Mt Hood Tiny House Village in Welches, OR, for the weekend with some friends and we had the best time ever!
Only an hour from Portland, the Tiny House Village has seven tiny homes, each unique in color and design. Our tiny home was “Anderson,” and he was a great host! At just 332 square feet he was able to house five of us (and our dogs) and show us a great time! With a fully equipped kitchen, full bathroom, a living room (with a fold down couch), one full bedroom downstairs with a queen bed, and two queen beds in the loft, there was no shortage of space. We cooked in the house and on the grill, we played games and had a campfire and we explored the local area mushroom foraging, hiking, biking and visiting a few of our favorite spots!
The Tiny House Village itself is tucked into the Mt Hood Village RV Resort and features a clubhouse with a fitness center, game room, hot tub and indoor and outdoor pool. The property also has a restaurant, laundry facilities and a banquet hall. Locally, we explored the Mount Hood Forest for some hiking, biking, mushroom foraging and we also visited some of our favorite local spots!
If you are in the area and you like hiking there is no shortage of trails. From short to long distance, the forest has many options for all skill level of hikers. Some of our favorite trails include Bald Mountain, McNeil Point, Salmon River Trail, Romana Falls and the Timberline Trail to Paradise Park. If you are in the area for snowshoeing in the winter, White River Snow Park offers great trails and terrific views of the mountain. If you are interested in biking – check out the Sandy Ridge Trail System or the Timberline to Town Trail! Also local to the Tiny House Village is winter skiing at the Snow Bowl, Timberline or Mount Hood Meadows!
Check out Timberline Lodge for some epic views of the mountain and a happy hour cocktail - the Bloody Mary’s and Hot Toddy’s are amazing. If you are a fan of Mac&Cheese head to the Skyway Bar & Grill in Rhododendron for some of the best i’ve ever had. Bonus - you can add in any toppings you want to have them baked right in it! They also have some DELICIOUS fried pickles!
Whether you're planning a retreat for the whole family, a group of friends or a getaway for two, there's no shortage of unique activities to explore in and around the Mt. Hood Tiny House Village in all seasons! We had a blast during our stay! If you want to book your own Tiny House the Village, use code BRYCE10 for 10% off your stay!
