Destination Yosemite - Our Stay at Yosemite Lakes
We recently took a trip to Yosemite National Park and had the opportunity to stay in a riverside yurt at Thousand Trails Yosemite Lakes RV Resort.
It was our first time to the park in the off season and it was incredible! The park is honestly incredible no matter when you visit, but the colors were popping and the crowds, though still there, were not, so I can happily say, we will be back next year for a fall visit!
Yosemite Lakes RV Resort is only five miles from the park entrance and offers guests tent sites, RV sites and dog friendly lodging options like cabins and yurts! Our yurt was perched just above the South Fork of the Tuolumne River and you can fall asleep to the sound of the waters passing by. Our yurt was outfitted perfectly with a queen futon and a bunk bed with a double bottom and twin top. We had our own private bathroom with shower and our kitchen was complete with a two-burner stove top, microwave, toaster, coffee pot and a refrigerator. The inside was heated by a gas fireplace and there was a BBQ grill on the porch. When we weren’t enjoying the yurt we were checking out the resort trails and mini golf course.
During the day we we headed into the park to do some hiking and sight-seeing with the dogs. While most of the hiking trails are not dog friendly, most all of the paths and trails in the valley floor are dog friendly and the scenery is unbeatable down there.
We opted to hike the Mist Trail early in the morning and then we spent the day on the valley trials with the dogs. We even saw a black bear crossing a meadow.
If you are looking to experience Yosemite with your dog I highly recommend an off season stay at Yosemite Lakes in a Yurt! We had the best time exploring the area and Yosemite Lakes was an amazing base camp for this!
